ROCKFORD -- State Senator Stadelman will present Certificates of Recognition from the Illinois Senate to Mark Pickett and Ryan Craig, whose heroic efforts saved mortician Bruce Salley from drowning in a flash flood in June.
The two men will accept the special honor at 2 PM FRIDAY, AUGUST 3 in Senator Stadelman's office at 200 S. Wyman St., Suite 301, in Rockford. Representatives of the news media are invited to attend.
Pickett and Craig pulled Salley from his car, which became pinned against a guardrail along Keith Creek and engulfed by rushing water. The rescue in the parking lot of Rockford Plaza at Charles and 20th streets received statewide attention.
Here's what you get --> "all you can eat" burgers, brats, hot dogs, popcorn and soda until the end of the 5th inning, a cookie for dessert, two free raffle ticket chances to win a family four pack of tickets to a Chicago Cubs home game, an option for your kids to keep and throw an official Rockford Rivets baseball out on the field, and of course, this is Rockford Peaches Night! Wins all around!
For children under 17 …
Because this is Rivets Stadium, you must have a ticket to get inside regardless. In order to keep with my "kids eat free" mantra, I'd like to suggest you purchase single game tickets using the regular online linkfor all kids under 17. Pick any $8 seat in the stadium, remembering you'll be sitting in the reserved area specific to my fundraiser.
One last thing –> ask anyone who has ever been to a Rivets game, parking is $5. That extra cost is out of my hands.
