State Lawmakers Propose Emergency Funding for Violence Reduction in Majority Minority Led Districts
ROCKFORD, Ill. – Black and Latino members of the House have introduced legislation that will provide emergency funding for violence reduction in all representative districts led by black and Latino members. Members will outline the proposal at a press conference to be held at 11:30am on Monday, May 8th at 1135 E State St, Rockford, IL 61104. Rep. Litesa Wallace (D-67, and Rep. Linda Chapa La Via (D-83) will be in attendance. Also, Pastor Ronald Alexander of Hope Fellowship and Mary Ann Commare of Youth Services Network will also be present.
House Bill 4008, sponsored by Rep. Litesa E. Wallace (D-67) seeks to appropriate $58,000,000 to provide grants to be disbursed to community based organizations that are based entirely within 24 specific representative districts.
Wallace and her colleagues are calling for funding to programs that reduce violence.
