Wallace Walking Door-to-Door this Summer to Hear from Residents
ROCKFORD, Ill. – With legislators back in their districts for the
remainder of summer, state Rep. Litesa Wallace, D-Rockford, is
continuing her outreach with residents by walking door-to-door to hear
their input.
"When I'm in Springfield, I want to make sure that I am acting in the
best interest of Rockford," Wallace said. "Going door-to-door gives me
insight on the local issues that affect our neighborhoods across the
city."
The Illinois General Assembly adjourned June 30 following passage of a
temporary stop-gap budget. Wallace supported the measure, which will
increase funding for Rockford schools and pay for essential services
such as cancer screenings, senior services and disability care. Since
taking office in 2014, Wallace has routinely engaged residents by going
door-to-door.
"I have been able to meet a lot of fascinating people in our community
by going door-to-door and hearing their stories," Wallace said. "There
will be a lot of important decisions to make in the near future, and
going bringing government directly to the doorstep of the community with
help prepare me. These personal stories stick with me, and it's
important that constituents know that their voice is heard."
